OCTOBER INFORMATION POST

Let's play together this month, Kupo~

Greetings, Heroes of Light. As you expect by now, this monthly information post will detail what events will occur this months, Kupo. October is the month when all of Vaikuntha celebrates the Night of the Thirteen Moogles, even if most of them don't remember why they should be scared of it. There is also a player plot that may get you a new Eidolon and more EXP, two things you may very much need by the end of the month. Should you have any questions to ask, feel free to ask them in the appropriate thread. You can also use this post to plot amongst yourselves while you still have the time, Kupo.

The Night of the Thirteen Moogles || October 01st
Amongst the most popular Holidays on Vaikuntha is The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Celebrated on October 31st, it is customary for people to wear fear-inducing costumes. Children are even encouraged to try terrorizing adults to receive candies. All major cities throughout Vaikuntha feature scary decorations throughout October, imagery meant to inspire fear and horror. While the holiday is celebrated on October 31st, decorations are usually installed as early as October 01st.

The origin of these customs lay in the legend of King Moggle Mog. It is said Moogles used to live in harmony in the kingdom of King Moggle Mog, long before the Goddess of Death and the Heroes of Light fought. Wise and loved by his subjects, the benevolent king lost himself and became a tyrant. Why? How? There is no one record of his fall into darkness. The most popular legend claims he allied himself with the Goddess of Death so he could rule over the Kingdom of Death left in the wake of her destruction. He made a pact with her, selling his soul to become something was was neither Moogle nor Monster. A Demon bearing the appearance of a Moogle.

Consumed by an insatiable lust for power, the king lost of sight what should have mattered the most: his people.

Countless Moogles were tortured and killed. Experiments were conducted, souls were defiled, all to achieve the Kingdom of Death he envisioned. Some were left to live eternities of despair, unable to move, see, or speak even as their bodies were experimented upon. Others were left dead and with no hope of rest, their souls tortured and forever forced to wander the halls of the malevolent king. Those who simply died were considered lucky, and those who were turned into monsters prayed for their souls to be freed.

In spite of his madness, the king was not alone. Twelve Moogles followed him and executed his every orders. Times were dark for Mooglekind...

... But the Heroes of Light, fighting the Goddess of Death, couldn't ignore their pleas for help. They faced King Moggle Mog and defeated his followers. They defeated the mad king. Cursing his enemies with his dying breath, the once mighty king fell and Moogles were saved.

Yet...

His soul never found rest.

Burning with undying hatred for those who had defeated him, the King could never find peace. Banished by the Heroes of Light to a prison between the realms of life and death, he could never move on beyond death and be reborn to reign again. His grudge ever-growing, his malice spreading to other lost souls, it is says he twists the lost spirits of Vaikuntha into dangerous, violent creatures.

... And the day he was defeated: October 31st.

Legend says his influence over the world strengthens as this day comes closer. Monsters grow more powerful. People behave malevolently. Malice and hatred from an era long gone curses Vaikuntha, afflicting every living being on the planet. It is even rumored that the spirit of the ancient king breaks loose from its prison and wrecks havoc on this most terrifying of nights...

Then come November 01st, and it is all over. Scary imagery and disguises are meant to warn King Moggle Moggle and his minions away until the dawn of November shines upon the world. To limit his influence, children claim candies from adults to remind the dreaded king that the weak shall not bow to the strong, and to let him know they're ready should he return.

Of course, all of these are nothing more than legends with unsubstantiated claims. No one has ever been seen turning into a monster nor has there been any serious studies showing an increase in violence or anger during October. Quite the contrary— People have taken a liking to the legend and the Night of the Thirteen Moogles is now celebrated by all who enjoy horror stories or getting scared.

... But what if November 01st never came? What if King Moggle Mog found his way back to the world and ended it all before the dawn came?

Spirits High and Low [10 EXP, 50 EXP max]|| October 1st - October 30th
Beginning on October 1st, and increasing until the 31st, residents of Vaikuntha will begin to notice strange things. While pranks and scares are usual during this month, this seems different.

Monster activity will increase as the month goes by, and spectral versions of monsters will begin to appear. These ghost versions of monsters have the same abilities as the flesh-versions, but seem wilder and more incline to attack indiscriminately.

In the evenings, just before the sun sets, characters may encounter lost spirits, who are seeking help resolving their final tasks so that they can move on to the afterlife. In this month of increased superstition, they are desperate enough for help that they will temporarily manifest so that they can receive aid and pass on before the dreaded Moggle Mog can poison their spirits. More information on these quests will be available on the Quest Board.

Heroes can participate in as many of these quests as they like, but a maximum of 50 exp points can be earned from this event. To receive the experience points, the players must provide proof of the log and completion of the task.

A History of Light and Darkness [100 EXP] || October 15th - October 31st

As these strange occurrences build, the Heroes of Light linkshell will receive a strange missive on October 15th (this message will be forward-dated). Attached will be a flier for an old, privately run doll museum, which has fallen into disrepair in recent years. Should they choose to investigate the message, the Heroes can form parties and enter the museum to learn what they can about the wandering spirits, the increase in monster attacks, and the strange scuttling shapes within the shadows of the darkened museum.

More information on the specifics of this event will be available on the OOC post, which will be posted on Oct 10th.

The Heroes of Light vs. Sakura Forest! [50 exp] || October 10th
Legends speak of an Eidolon living amongst the powerful monsters in this forest. With a countdown to the apocalypse coming, the Heroes of Light will need all the help they can get. Castor is looking for a few brave souls to help her cull the monster population and see if there's any truth to the rumored Eidolon.

The OOC Signup Post can be found here!

Mognet will function correctly throughout October, besides issues listed below:

• October || Worldwide
All iMog Slates will receive an update toggling a Night of the Thirteen Moogles mode. Lots of orange will fill your tablet alongside spoopy and chibi Moogles, Lalafells, Tonberries, etc. Special visual and audio filters are added if you want to scare your friends.

• October 15th - 31st || Glitch
Mognet will glitch out and may not work at some times. Staring for prolonged period of times at the screen may reveal some deformed Moogle-like creature staring at the Slate user. This will disappear if spotted but will return after a bit.

• October 31st || Glitch
Mognet will not function.

Non-Violence Festival || Nakagawa, October 02nd
Everything appears to be solved through violence nowadays. Even most Jobs are dedicated to learning skills making you more effective at killing things. Not all people are so though and many wish they'd live in a violence-free day. This is why on October 02nd, a Festival is held in Nakagawa. The festival coincides with when the local authorities start installing Night of the Thirteen Moogles decorations. Dancing, eating and being kind to people around you are all encouraged on this day.

International Failure Celebration || Worldwide, October 13th
What does failing mean? It means you've tried. It means you've tried to do something beyond your means. And your failure is something to celebrate: you reached for an opportunity and learnt from it, paving the way for a future success. It's this very positive philosophy about failure that is celebrated all around Vaikuntha. It is said an outworlder once found a crying child who had failed his exams, and told him all of this to cheer him up. And this philosophy stuck with the child all his life. Once an adult and a renowned historian, that child went ahead and created this celebration. Don't be afraid to celebrate failure, everyone else in the world will too.

Great Scott Day || Von Oktavia, October 21st
As all know, Von Oktavia is the most advanced civilization on Vaikuntha, in no small part thanks to PuPu technology. However, other things factor in their technological success. Hundreds of years ago, it is said an outworlder in particular influenced Oktavian technology, a genius scientist who would often proclaim "Great Scott." He notably introduced to the world the technology that flies modern one-person airships and the fusion technology that runs on literal garbage and doesn't pollute the environment. He disappeared while experimenting on a special kind of airship and this day is held in memory of his contributions.

Night of the Thirteen Moogles || Worldwide, October 31st

If five of a monster is submitted, they'll be eligible to learn Blue Magic from.

You can also submit boss battles or monsters from your homeworld, for training purpose. Submitting monsters is rewarded with Gil, with more Gil for new monsters, giving a way to make some money for those with fighting skills.
